Anderson Excavating
Joe Anderson, owner of Anderson Excavating, Inc. in Baldwin, Wisconsin,
said the company prides itself on being family owned and operated for over 68 years.

It All Began with a Flatbed Truck

It’s amazing what a legacy can be achieved with a little hard work and determination. Anderson Excavating, in Baldwin, Wisconsin, is one of those achievements.

Anderson Excavating is a nearly 70-year-old business with deep family connections. The company was established in 1947 in Woodville, Wisconsin, by Robert J. Anderson (current owner, Joe Anderson’s grandfather) with just two pieces of equipment - a flatbed truck and a Ford tractor with a trip bucket. Ten years later, the company grew so quickly that it was relocated to Baldwin where it is still based.

“I started running equipment at the age of 4 and I am still ‘playing’ in the dirt,” Joe Anderson laughed. “In November 2006, my wife, Robin, and I bought the company and operate it today. I really love what I do, and hope to pass it on to my children.”

Anderson Excavating is a full-service excavation company specializing in site prep, driveways, digging water and sewer, snow removal, and trucking. “We pride ourselves on being family owned and operated for over 68 years,” Joe said. “We value our employees and customers; without them we would not be in business.”

And John Deere has been an integral part of that business for more than 47 years. In 1968, the first piece of John Deere equipment was purchased - a trailer and 350 dozer. Through the years, the company has purchased more than 25 pieces of John Deere equipment and currently run a 644J, 544C, and 544G loaders, 750C and 450J dozers, 160G and 290D backhoes, and a 570 grader.

Joe has been happy with the John Deere equipment he owns. “We stick with John Deere; they know how to make equipment to last,” he said. “We have been dealing with McCoy Construction & Forestry for several years now. Their knowledge and customer service are outstanding. Their salesmen go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied.”

When Joe isn’t running his business and “playing in the dirt” he spends his time relaxing on the lake with his family, wife, Robin, and three children: Carlie, Jacob, and Aubrie.
