Steve Vogel of SVS Inc., likes his 75G Excavator’s reach, compact size, and fuel economy.

Welcome to the One-Man Show

In the arms of the Northwoods of Wisconsin lies St. Germain, a small town known for its lakes, trails, and championship 18-hole golf course. It is also home to one of the hardest working gentlemen in Wisconsin, Steve Vogel, owner of Steve Vogel Services, Inc.

Steve and his wife, Terri, embody the entire crew at SVS, Inc. They opened the business in 2008 with a five-yard-dump truck, a compact track loader, and a John Deere compact excavator. For eight years, Steve has been the labor of the business while Terri maintains the office and keeps the books. Luckily, Steve’s brother, Jimmy, jumps in and drives the truck when Steve needs some extra hands

In fact, you might say that Steve’s work is part of who he is as a person. While he was growing up, his dad, Charles, ran a similar business in St. Germain called Vogel Enterprises. He also was a long-time McCoy Construction & Forestry and John Deere customer. It’s paid to keep the family in the business.

SVS, Inc. focuses mostly on demolition, driveway work, and clearing for building sites. But the company specializes in unique boulder retaining walls which Steve builds with his John Deere 75G compact excavator. “I really like this machine,” Steve said of the 75G. “It’s easy to haul and fits well on my trailer. The fuel economy is great and it is so compact, it gets around easy.”

Steve’s experience with McCoy has been just as positive as his experience with John Deere. “I like that when I call the McCoy store, the employees know me. They take care of me,” Steve explained.
